Job Description

Principal Lead Engineer is a key member of an agile team to deliver great products for our internal and external customers. In this lead role, you will be primarily responsible for end to end technical delivery of the product - including technical design, development, quality and performance of a web application – both as an individual contributor as well as coordinating and reviewing the work of other engineers on the team. You will also be responsible for the integration and overall support of your product across the tech stack, bring the best practices to improve the speed to market.

Key Responsibilities

Cloud Platform Strategy & Architecture

  • Define and drive the strategic roadmap for cloud engineering platforms and services.
  • Design scalable, resilient, secure, and highly available cloud architectures.
  • Establish enterprise standards, patterns, and best practices for cloud adoption and engineering.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and provide recommendations aligned with business objectives.
  • Lead architecture reviews and ensure alignment with enterprise architecture standards.

Platform Engineering & Automation

  • Lead the development and enhancement of self-service engineering platforms.
  • Drive Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Policy as Code, and platform automation initiatives.
  • Improve developer experience through automation, standardization, and reusable engineering patterns.
  • Champion platform reliability, performance optimization, and operational efficiency.

DevSecOps & Engineering Excellence

  • Drive CI/CD modernization and DevSecOps adoption across engineering teams.
  • Establish secure-by-design engineering practices and embed security controls throughout the software delivery lifecycle.
  • Lead implementation of automated quality gates, vulnerability management, and compliance controls.
  • Promote engineering excellence through standardization, automation, and continuous improvement.

Observability & Reliability Engineering

  • Define enterprise monitoring, logging, observability, and alerting strategies.
  • Drive SRE and operational excellence practices to improve platform availability and reliability.
  • Establish service health metrics, operational KPIs, SLIs, and SLOs.
  • Lead root cause analysis and resolution of critical platform incidents.

Governance, Risk & Compliance

  • Ensure cloud platforms adhere to organizational security, regulatory, audit, and compliance requirements.
  • Establish governance frameworks for cloud resource management, access control, and platform operations.
  • Partner with Risk, Security, and Audit teams to address control requirements and remediation activities.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.
  • 12+ years of technology experience with at least 5+ years in Cloud Engineering, Platform Engineering, or DevSecOps leadership roles.
  • Deep expertise in public cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
  • Strong experience designing enterprise-scale cloud solutions and shared engineering platforms.
  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, Bicep, or equivalent).
  • Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices.
  • Expertise in cloud security, identity management, governance, and compliance frameworks.
  • Experience with observability, monitoring, logging, and operational excellence practices.
  • Strong stakeholder management and executive communication skills.
  • Proven ability to lead large-scale transformation and modernization initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Cloud certifications (Azure Solutions Architect, AWS Solutions Architect, Google Professional Cloud Architect, etc.).
  • Experience with GitHub Enterprise, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, Harness, or similar platforms.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, container platforms, and modern application architectures.
  • Knowledge of FinOps, cloud cost optimization, and cloud governance frameworks.
  • Experience leading platform engineering or internal developer platform initiatives.
  • Exposure to enterprise-scale security, risk, and regulatory environments.

In-Office Collaboration

Our employees work in the office at least three (3) days per week, with flexibility to work from home two (2) days per week. Some roles may require additional in-office time or different in-office expectations, and specific requirements will be discussed during the hiring process.
